Ballarat Chamber Opera
Ballarat Chamber Opera aims to enliven and promote classical singing within the community. We are striving to reinvigorate Ballarat's once rich classical singing heritage by employing, where possible, talent that has emerged from, or resides in, the surrounding community.
As a fledgling company your support is vital to us. Whether as a patron, a singer, or music lover, your support enables us to breathe new life into the tradition and art of classical singing, and helps us provide a platform for singers and musicians in our community to share their craft.
Artistic Director - Christine Heald
As a contemporary musician I studied Music Business in Canberra with a mind to pursue event and music management. After discovering the extraordinary world of classical singing via the Canberra Handel Choir I sought classical vocal training with teacher Dianna Nixon. I later entered the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music where I gained a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance and a Masters of Music (Operatic Performance) with teacher Anna Connolly. My Masters involved working as a young artist with the Victorian Opera where I gained not only enormous experience as a performer, but insight into the workings of a professional opera company.
After moving to Ballarat in 2014 I was so excited by the aliveness of the Ballarat music scene - but my big question was 'Where is the opera?'
Ballarat Chamber Opera is my answer.
